SurfBand Retro for 2015

I finish installing the surf band while doing a bunch of other maintenance on the boat this weekend, and here's what I found while dry-land testing: This isn't 100% accurate since the engine wasn't running and I know there is a bunch of EMI from the ignition system, but I was able to get the wedge to move from 85' behind the boat! I could have tested further back, but my 4 yo. son was about to jump off the platform so he could come try to figure out what I was doing. Here are a few other notes/thoughts:

  • Firmware update was simple and my presets stayed; write them down before the firmware update just in case.
  • The maintenance log was reset, but it's easy to put it back the way it was. Write down what's been done so you can reset it.
  • I forget to check the temp offset and a bunch of the other screens, hopefully I didn't miss anything critical but I'll find out soon enough.
  • The "confirm you've read the manual and are a safe boat driver" pop-up on when the boat is turned on is annoying. I had something similar on my car nav system 10 years ago, but my new cars don't do this. Why does Malibu want to be a nanny?
  • The wedge now causes the screen to dim & flash on movement; Maybe my batteries need charging, I've been listening to the stereo in the boat while working. I hope this goes away.
  • There is a new layout to the dash that shows wake characteristics instead of the boat/ballast tanks/wedge. I'm not sure I'll use this screen.
  • The wedge position indicator is now 180* (or a bit more) instead of the 90* view previously
  • There is a new "media transfer" screen showing the ability to move data from "USB1" or "USB2" to "SD card". I'm not sure how useful this is, and it's not in the manual. Maybe it's a way to load pictures for rider profiles?

I'll report more after on-the-water testing next weekend.

Can any of you guys (or anyone  else) tell me exactly where you found this plug? I'm installing the retrofit kit and am not having any luck. My kit did not come with instructions. I've found the ground and a power line to a fuse for the surf gate but can't find the plug that I need.

Disregard, I finally found it. The plug was shoved clear back underneath the ECM plate. It was a genuine pain in the butt to get to, but I got it hooked up and working.

Older post I know, but where are you guys ordering from?
I tried to plug in the part number from this thread but it didn’t pull anything up.
we just picked up a 2015 MXZ and I would like to add this to it
