Towed our 23LSV 1,000 miles round trip from Boise to South Lake Tahoe (great experience)...

The wife and I did a trip down to Lake Tahoe with some neighbor/friends and took our 23LSV with us. Although it was a great time and we enjoyed having the boat with us, I don't think I'll do it again. Mostly because of the high costs once you get the boat down there. The Lake Tahoe inspection took about 2-1/2 hours and ran $78 to flush our ballast tanks with hot water. Launch and recovery fees were high, trailer stowage, and more.

However, I was very pleased with how well the boat towed for the road trip. My truck is a 2015 F250 with the 6.7 Powerstroke. The tongue surge brake on the trailer was more than adequate for the hills between Boise and Lake Tahoe. We had my truck and the boat loaded down with a lot of gear (ours, plus two other families as they were driving minivans and small SUVs with kids and dogs). I'm guessing between the boat, trailer, and gear I was towing close to 7,500 lbs. For the round trip my truck averaged 12.8 mpg (hand calculated). I was running 75 mph for most of the trip. Before I tow again, I'm going to get some helper airbags and swap my tiny 25 gallon tank for a Titan 50 gallon tank.

I can't believe ford put a 25 gallon tank in a one ton truck. Sounds like a great trip.

Same here. You have to get the long bed to get the 35 gallon tank. So far, the only complaint I have with the truck.

Happy to ride

Love my Titan tank. I changed it out myself and the 600 miles or better between fills is great. Gas Buddy and I have a great relationship as to where to by fuel now. Titan's headquarters is in Idaho Falls, Idaho, so when the dealer I bought mine from sent the wrong skid plate, I just went to IF to exchange it. Best money I have spent on my F-350.

Wow yeah that makes no sense. If they can put the 36 gallon in my shortbed f150 they should be able to in yours. I wonder if you would be able to upgrade it?

That sounds like an awesome trip. I hope to make it myself some day.

25 gallon fuel tank is just silly. My truck has 35 plus a 60 gallon aux tank in the bed. That is just about right.

Yea, but to be fair, I can see not wanting to pull up to the pump with your massive setup!

But you only do it once a month... Lol

Hard to argue with that. When I got the DRW, the aux tank was very high on my priority list. Would be nice to have the extra bed space, but it is nicer to never HAVE to fill up when I am towing tandem.

You would be surprised at how often you have to fill when you get 8 MPG......

No... no I wouldn't be surprised. lol
My old TBI 5.7 rig gets 9-10mpg, and 6-7 when towing.

Which is why I'm swapping an LS into it at the moment!
