Honda 4 stroke help

Recommended Posts

SkiingPT

I have a pontoon with a Honda 115 4 stroke on it. I let a friend use it the last couple days. He just called and said it had leaked all the oil out of it. He sent me a picture that looks like it is leaking on the back of the motor from around the flywheel. Confirmed that the oil cap is still in place. Any ideas?

where is the leak in relation to the oil tank? I believe those are dry sump motors and the tank is below the motor. I would start with looking for oil lines and fittings that have failed.

good luck.

Around the flywheel? Sounds like a crank oil seal.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, Isn't the crank oil seal usually a high millage/use issue?

That doesn't mean it can't fail early, or even more likely, get installed wrong at the factory.
