How to find bad ground?

My stereo works fine when the boat is off it as soon as you crank the engine or hit the ballast switch al kinds of noise comes through the speakers. Where should I start looking?

Doing a voltage drop test with a basic digital volt meter will uncover a bad ground.

Ground your headunit/EQ to the same place your amps are grounded. This is a common cause of the problem you described.
