"BAD & WAIT" on screen 2005 Malibu LX

Hey all - new to the malibu and have a question. When I start my 2005 Malibu LX on the MPH Gauge the digital screen says "BAD" and then "WAIT" and then goes directly to the depth. Is this normal? I e-mailed Malibu but haven't heard back.

I believe that is just the depth gauge powering up. I don't think it is anything to worry about. When the gauge isn't reading on the lake you may see it read "BAD" again.

I bought my 05 in '11 and it has always done that. I asked the dealer and they said it was normal on power up. Curious to hear if this is true of others in the crew as well though

My 03 25 LSV does it. Not sure why the guy I bought it from told me about it. Never seems to affect anything. I would be interested to hear what it is...

Completely normal.

Thanks for the responses. I actually inquired with Malibu at the same time and they said "yes, it's the depth finder."

My depth finder shows - - and water temp something off the wall number. The paddle wheel still works for the cruise. This is on mine 05 RLX.
