05 Response Stereo Mounting Issue

Recommended Posts

I'm prepping the boat for the season and trying to pick off a couple issues that have been nagging us over the past couple seasons. One of the more challenging has been the stereo mounting under the armrest on the driver's side. We installed a new system last year and have yet to be able to keep it from falling through the mounting hole. The flimsy sheet metal bracket that you're supposed to use to mount the stereo doesn't seem to be able to support the weight of the device and bending the tabs into a position to support the stereo has not worked well. Has anyone come up with a better mounting option or can tell me where I'm going wrong here?

On my VLX I have a strap that is bolted to the back of the HU and the top of the strap is bolted above the HU into the arm rest. I had quite a time getting mine out and back in. A friend with a long, skinny arm comes in handy.

I have the same issue and I am in the market for a HU. Thinking about relocating it to just under the dash. Maybe fabricating some type of wooden shelf. Still scratching my head though for good ideas. I posted in a thread the other day about it, and a equalizer with Bluetooth and AUX as a solution since I don't get good reception on the radio and I have since gotten rid of my 100 cd book......They seem to be more expensive but a little more flexible and smaller....
