4th gen ram 1500 hemi?

Ok so in June I am trading in my stang on an 09+ ram 1500 with the hemi. Thinking of picking up a slightly used 14 next year. Crew cab sport model 4x4. I've already driven one and like it a lot. So who has one? any issues? Gripes? Positives?

I would probably get the 8 speed with 3.92 gears, or would 3.21 be ok with the 8 speed? Anyone have this combo?

I'm confused. What's a "stang"? And why are you trading it for an 09 or newer Ram but also getting a much newer crew cab? What make and model crew cab? What am I missing?

Mustang.

Trading for a 4th gen ram 1500 crew cab. haven't decided if I want an 09 or a 14. The reason I started this thread is I wanted crew members opinions that have these trucks that are in the year 09-14 and how they have like owning them.

Ah. Well for starters an 09 hemi has a 5 speed (or 6 speed depending on how you look at it).

3.21 is a 2wd only option - my truck has the 3.21's.

Sport is the car bumper package, basically just an SLT with some "stuff"

Only real issues I've had with my 09 Crew Cab were a couple recalls and I had to replace a rotted out trans line a few months ago. I've got 105K miles on it now.

Yes. For 14 they added the 8 speed and 3.21 were a 4x4 option with that transmission.

my daughter took her car to college too. six weeks later she's still on her first tank of gas.

I realize the modern college freshman is far more dedicated and responsible than those of us who attended prior to the internet. But back in the day, our road trips were all made in rented Lincoln Town cars funded in by Thirty Day Emergency Student loans.

So, 1) the freshman really doesn't need a car at college, it will just rot in some remote parking lot and

2) lack of use of dad's gas card, may not be a reliable indication that the student is staying put.

I have a 2010 4x4 laramie w the hemi. I have 70k. Truck has been flawless. Dealer did one service, I change the oil and the very first thing went wrong yesterday which was a taillight. I am thoroughly impressed with what Dodge did w this redesign. It is (IMO) hands down the best interior, drives great, and the rear coils are fabulous.

Get a one ton dually diesel long bed crew cab. You don't want to be limited by a half ton gasser when you're hitting the narrow streets around campus at 15mph...and parking in tiny spots...and getting door dings and bike dents daily.

Just an idea...but get a truck a few years older and take the difference in price and buy a motorcycle. You'll be so jealous of the guys on bikes/scooters/mopeds that can park right outside of their class, while you're circling the block for the 5th time looking for a spot. You have the best of both worlds cause you'd have a truck for towing the boat, hauling girls, kegs of beer, moving each year, etc...
