Yet another electrical gremlin

Recommended Posts

I had another electrical issue the last couple times out. On first start up of the day, I can go forward and reverse at idle only. When I try to power up, nothing. I turn the boat off and restart and everything is fine. Anyone experience this? It's happened twice now. Service engine banner came up for a couple of starts and then cleared itself. I plan to take in to dealer next week but just curious if anyone has experienced this. I checked code which was in the active code section and it said something about erratic voltage or something and one other but I don't recall what it was. I didn't write it down because it was in active status so I assumed it would keep it stored. It didn't.

Try hitting it with a hammer. If you can't fix it with a hammer then you know for certain that it is an electrical problem.

If an active code self clears, it means that problem went away. Hopefully permenantly! Sounds like might be a ground issue. Check the batteries and make sure terminals are good, then go through each ground terminal under the helm. Good luck with it. Since your under warranty, I'd let the dealer research it. Have fun this summer and stay safe!
