Good Deal on Balls

While not quite as cool as using a hippity hop, these are huge and pretty inexpensive. Bought a set to permanently attach to my folks dock, and they are every bit as good as some more expensive ones that we have had. Use big carabineer clips to fasten them sideways on the dock frame, so there is no chance of them moving.

I have 2 10" x 26" Taylormade fenders & their only good for tying the boat to a dock. If your tying 2 boats together with towers & racks, 8.5" or 10" of separation is not enough. I usually blow the hippity hops up to 15" or 18" in diameter.

Guess I figured that docks were what they were for since that is what the OP posted. Never had a reason to tie 2 boats together

At this time I'm looking at doing a GB for these and hoping it will happen by the beginning of next year. Take a look in the GB request form for color options and make sure to vote so I know what needs to be ordered.

For those of you who own 23' boats or bigger, you could buy one of the black balls and use one as a daytime anchor signal when at anchor. I'd bet even your local water cops wouldn't know what it means, but if you get hit while at anchor and have the ball displayed properly you should not have any shared blame.

If your boat is under 23' long, you only need the ball if you are anchored in a channel or where vessels normally navigate.

With that said, I'm almost positive that I have only seen one boat display a ball in my entire life. I'm thinking of getting one just to mess with people's heads on the rare occasion that I do anchor somewhere. Have any of you ever seen a boat display one?
