Powering your boat lift

I don't agree. I thought the same thing and left mine out this past winter. The battery was completely dead. I just don't think there is enough sunlight to even provide the minimum amount of current to maintain the battery. I will be reverting back to removing the battery and putting it on a maintenance charger in the garage next winter.

Thanks Tao

That is exactly what I wanted to know. I didn't really buy it either.

I like the idea of "zero maintenance" but not at the expense of a dead deep cycle battery!

What tender do you use by the way?

I use the BatteryMinder products like this: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200589669_200589669

I have a couple of them that I move from battery to battery for the first month or two then I have harnesses that allow for connecting all of the batteries to maintain over the winter. I did have a couple 4-bank BatteryTenders, but they didn't keep the batteries charged up! I swear by the BatteryMinder products.

I had a fire back in 2009 using a cheap Schumacher charger that I will never use again. Spend the money and get quality chargers/maintainers that have overload/heat protection. The fire cost me a pretty new Honda ATV. Insurance covered most everything else.
