1989 Flightcraft XL20 Competition Barefoot "Restoration"

Hi to all,

This is my first post here but I have spent a ton of time learning from you all. Thought you might enjoy a project that was recently completed. After an 11 year absence from the water, I went looking for something to replace the '89 Mastercraft Barefoot 200 that I sold in '01. I was shocked to see the price of new boats and doubly shocked to see the price of good used ones. So... I decided to try to make the best out of what I could afford.

Thanks for the kind words. Glad you like it. It was a fun process and it's nice to have a boat again!

I have added a couple new links in the original post detailing some more of the build.

cOris, I added a new gallery on the wrap. Jim Hagen from Sign Edge https://www.facebook.com/signedgewraps?fref=ts did the design, printing and install. He is a great guy!

That is awesome. More and more resto-mod boats showing up and just like cars some are hideous and some are fantastic. Yours is the latter in my book. Some may bawk at the wrap but to me it's personal opinion on looks (I like it btw) but that interior layout and design is really, really nice in anyone's book.

Edit: who refurbed your Airguides?

jk13 - The Airguides were restored by Dean of Classic Boatworks - www.classicboatworks.com Nice guy to deal with.

cOris - As I understand it, the wrap material that Sign Edge used is the best available for abrasion and fade resistance. I just use a little bit of vinegar/water and wax to keep the water spots at bay. I believe it has a 7-10 year life expectancy if left in the elements. I store the boat indoors most of the time so I am hoping to extend that by quite a bit.
