Just4Fun - I'm not sure I understand what help your looking for? Most people mount a preamp eq unit under the helm / dash area so the controls are in a very easy to get to location. You can keep your regular head unit and plug it into the main input, and then run second input for an iPod. The pre amp has 2 inputs and a selector to change between them.

re: Rca's - As you mentioned, you'll need 1 input pair. And then up to 3 pair going back to the sub / tower / cabin amplifier rca inputs. I typically suggest running them around the bow. It takes an 18ft (buy 20's) cable to do this.

I realize this is general info. If you need specific help, shoot me a pm and we can go over lots of details specific to your challenges.

Just4fun,

Standard DIN (2"X7") source/head units have keys that remove the unit forward from the metal rectangular sleeve that in turn locks into the coaming structure. Remove the HU trim panel to expose access for the keys insertion on each side. The keys are usually with the owners manual. If you do not have the keys, every nearby car audio store will have these. In some cases two fine picks will work as keys. If you do not have these picks check with your dentist.

There is a direct wire path through the bilge from helm console to helm console. 17 foot RCAs will easily make this path from the EQ location just over the driver's right knee to amplifiers against the port hull.

Most use the front RCA from the HU to the EQ.

Just4fun,

If you have three sets of RCA cables running from the existing source unit to the amplifiers then you can re-route the same source cables to terminate underdash for the EQ. Then you will only need one new short 3 foot RCA cable.

What David said pertains to almost every question asked except one. For the question " One RCA comes from the radio head to the the ZLD the rest go to the amps the one coming from the radio is which port on the head. " your answer is use either of the front or rear RCAs outputs on the head unit, do not use the subwoofer RCAs out....
