Buzzing noise in speakers

Hi all,

I have a 2011 VTX with 4 x Malibu Titan tower speakers connected to a Rockford fosgate amp? When the boat is on and the radio is off the tower speakers buzz? When the radio is on the buzzing disappears.

The speakers are connected to the amp and the amp to stereo.

The internal boat speakers don't have this issue

Any ideas what is causing this?

I would say so as it would be impossible for sound to come through the speakers if the amp was off.

So it sounds like the remote wire from the amp to radio must be connected to the wrong terminal on the radio??? Constant power instead of remote.

Is this what you mean?

Yep, that's what I'm saying, the remote to the amp is probably hooked to a constant or ignition source instead of the remote turn on wire.. Does it do it with the key off as well? This will tell you wether it's a constant or ignition problem...

It's not impossible for a speaker to pick-up and produce noise if the amplifier is off. Anything with an inductor (choke or voice coil) can pick up noise. But it is very unlikely in this scenario.

If you find that the amplifier remains on independent of all the other audio electronics then this should be an easy one to trace down and rectify. Also, amplifier internal water damage can be responsible for an amplifier that is frozen 'On'.

Tell us what you find.
