Stereo Power

My stereo suddenly will not power on. When I push the mux switch to turn it on, the display on the mux panel says "Wait" and nothing happens. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Mike,

Assuming that the boat voltage is strong,

You first have to differentiate between whether the source unit is or is not powering up or if it is the amplifier(s) that is not powering up.

You have four wires in the source unit harness of concern. B+ constant supply (12V). B+ switched supply (12V). Ground. Remote turn-on out (12V).

You have three terminals on the amplifier of concern. B+ supply (12V). Ground. Remote turn-on in (12V).

It is possible for the source unit to power up and the amplifier to not power up so that you have no audio. But in that case you would have confirmation of the source unit functionality proving it is powering up.

Most amplifiers will have an external status indication light.

You can verify each of these with a $10 multimeter. Without this essential tool you will waste lots of time and speculation.

You will need the factory harness color code for meaningful source unit tests.

If all seven of these points check out fine then you have probaby narrowed it down to a faulty component.

Thanks all. I had a loose wire connecting to the battery. Tightened her up and it works fine. Stupid on my part, but easy to fix!!
