1999 MALIBU RESPONSE

Call Discount Inboard Marine 1-803-345-0996. Tell them what year and model and they will send the cable. I just bought a new cable I think it was $179.00.

I need to replace the steering cable on a 95 Malibu Response LS. 

What length, brand, etc?

Also, tilt steering knuckle is shot...any ideas?

Assuming the tilt is the same as mine you can disassemble it and clean and repack with grease.  It's worth a shot before you buy a new one.  Just know that when you open it it will be a bit of a puzzle...also, when I reinstalled, the 2 main bolts put pressure on the tilt mechanism/joint.  If you go really tight it may bind it up; I had to back it up a touch for it to be smooth.

If you can't tighten it up, the standard tilt Teleflex tilt units that Malibu uses are about $100 .  Just make sure you know if you need keyed or splined.  Most older malibus are keyed.
