Navigation won't start up

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else had a problem with their navigation not starting up?? On mine, you hit a button on the navigation remote, and the Malivu screen goes white, and says "Initializing Navigation Database", and it won't go past this screen, and if I hit the button to go back to the Malivu screens, nothing happens. It's like the whole system freezes, and I need to turn the boat off to get my Malivu screens back. I've tried killing the power to the computer with the battery switch. I've also pulled the navigation card out of the computer, and put it back in. Nothing has worked. Is there anything else I should look at?

I did.... Sounds like they've never worked on the Navigation system before...

I made a bit of progress last night though.... If you remove the card, the system starts up and says no SD card is present, then starts the system without the map on the screen, but you still get coordinates. I put the card back in, but still had problems. Went back and forth doing this a few times and ended up getting it to start up with the maps again. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the card that is in there maybe going bad?? Or maybe something to do with the contacts?? I think I'll pull the card again and see if I can read it on my computer, and maybe copy the maps to a new card....

cwkoch,

I know this post is WAY stale, but I have the same issue on my '10 23LSV. I replaced the card and it didn't fix it. Tried reloading the software on the boat (the ViperApp.mem file), tried unplugging everything, etc, all to no avail. Did you ever figure yours out? Medallion and Malibu were both clueless.
