hammerhead horsepower

I Bought a 2004 23' Wakesetter LSV with 151 hours. It is supposed to be a 380 HP motor. I have run a 21' 1988 Ski Supreme for the last 16 years, with a 240 HP motor. I know the VLX is heavier and longer, but the hole shot is WEAK compared to the old carburated, 240HP Ford 351. Is there a chip or anything else I can do to boost HP without getting into the motor? We absolutely LOVE the boat, but I'm not impressed with the power, given the HP is supposedly 140 greater in the new boat.

Thanks,

TD

Your LSV probably weighs around 4000 lbs. Your old Ski Supreme probably weighed about 2200 lbs. 100 extra Hp isn't going to make the LSV scream like the Ski Supreme.

Is this your first V-drive? I've had 2 direct drives and 2 V-drives. I've found the V-drives just don't have the hole-shot acceleration of a direct drive. But, they're still a world better than a stern drive:)

That prop suggestion is right on. If hole shot is what your after, nothing like a acme 1235 to make it jump out of the water. The difference between a acme 1235 and a acme 537 was like the difference between a 4 door sedan and an ac cobra. Those cobras drink more gas, however.....horse.gif

My factory prop is a Acme 381. I called Acme and explained our riding style, weight etc, and he suggested an Acme 1239. It is 1/2 inch larger in diameter, and 2 inches shorter in length of water covered. I will comment further once it gets here and I try it out. Unfortunately, the skiing days are coming to a close here in Kentucky, so I hope to try it out this weekend.
