Malibu copy?

Does anyone know if another boat manufacturer used the same hull mold as the early Skiers? There is another boat on my lake that is a twin to my '88 Skier but I swear it had different decals on it at one time that weren't Malibu, I have never been able to get close to it or talk to the owner to see what it is. No biggie just wondered if anyone knew-thanks.

Yes.... but I can't think of its name. I saw one when I was looking for a boat and it was identical just a different name!! I will hopefully edit this post with its name!!

87 Eliminator Skier

Magnum skier

They both look similar, but that Eliminator looks almost exactly the same...

The Eliminator is close, but I couldn't swear by it. I was almost certain it was an American Skier but any pictures I've seen of those don't match-I guess the best thing is to chase down the owner and ask them to find out! It has been a year for alot of new/old boats on the lake which I enjoy. It has always been predominately MC and SN due to the proximity of dealers, witha few Bu's here and there some older Centurions etc.. This year we have 4 or 5 Bu's that showed up,a Marlin skier that looks brand new,a restored Centurion, and a Centurion Falcon.Sorry to go off topic a little but I always enjoy seeing the older boats show up when everyone on the lake has an X-something or an Air Nautique-nice to be different.

My friend had a Marlin Skier (late 80's) and we used to tease him because we have NEVER seen another one. It did look just like a Malibu Skier, but IMO most ski boats of that era looked alike (aside from Nautique).

Didn't Bob Alkema (you guys remember him?) get his start glassing boats by buying some molds from another boat company?

Don't know who he bought them from.

The early Ski Brendellas looked like a Malibu. Seems like Bob Alkema and Mike Brendel worked together in their early days.
