THERMOSTAT CHANGE GUIDANCE

Recommended Posts

took the old thermostat out of my 2000 23escape. boat has 118 hours on it and the thermostat was really corroded. ive been having a little issue with the engine running from 160-170 and im hoping it just needs a new stat. my question is when i removed the stat, i looked down below where the thermostat set and saw a good bit of what looked like rust in the water...do i need to try to flush those particles back out. do i need to clean the entire housing and with what? thanks

Meh,

Unless there's some sort of large chunks of debris (which I doubt), all the rusty water you see is gonna get blown right out the exhaust next time you take her out. I'd just leave it.
