Sweetwater Trailer

Recommended Posts

I have a single axle Sweetwater trailer under my 99 Response.

The bearing buddy does not have a grease fitting on it.

There is a fitting on the inside of the hub.

It isn't taking grease now...I need to pick up some flexible wire and try to clean it out.

Could I put the right size bearing buddy that has a grease fitting on the outside?

Also, anyone have a link to the mfg or where i could get an owners manual, parts book etc.

Thanks all!

There is no grease fittings on the inside of the hubs, I would guess that you may be looking at the brake bleeder.

You can replace the bearing buddy with a grease-able one if you like - they are a press-fit. Knock off the existing and tap on the new one.

Edit : This all depends on your definition of "inside". If you are looking in the middle of the exterior hub, ie, center of the spindle from outside, or, are you looking at the inside meaning behind the tire, on the inside face of the hub?

From the posts below, it sounds like you were referring to the middle of the hub on the outside...

On EZ Lube hubs the the grease fitting is behind the dust cap, which usually has a little rubber insert for access.

If you have EZ lube hubs I would just repack the bearings and clean out/replace the existing fitting. Nice thing is it delivers grease to the middle of the hub.

You absolutely can change to the pressurized protector. Remember to remove the zerk fitting from your existing Bearing Lube setup. Then just knock on the new protector.
