Rudder grease fittings on 99 Response

Recommended Posts

The 2 grease fittings on the rudder of my 99 Response won't take any grease.

Steering is ok.....if I take the steering cable off and turn rudder by hand am I ok?

Is there a way to put on new grease fittings, or should I not really worry about it??

I know when steering goes stiff, about 99% of the time you need a new cable...greasing it helps a little for a short time.

Thanks!!

Greasing the rudder will prevent it from vibrating. Rudder vibration can damage the seals and cause leaking. Just replace the zerk fittings if they're clogged. Remove the old ones and take them with you to match up to the new ones.
