2010 Throttle lever??

Hey guys, I have been looking at a 2010 VTX here in Australia.

The boat does not have the nice shiny isotta knob and the button on top, instead it has the black knob with the pull up collar......???

Can anyone enlighten me as to why the 2010 models went back to the collar on the lever?

I downloaded the 2010 manual and there is no mention of the press button shifter ... then I read the 2011 manual and both are available in 2011

Help me please ... confused.....

I believe it's because the 2010s are not electronic shift, only electronic throttle. They went back to an older shift knob because of that I'm guessing. I believe they fixed the electronic shift problems, and brought that back for 2011.

I have a 2010 and have the lift collar shifter, and like that better than the other push button ones. I think it's easier to use. I've driven a 2009 with electronic shift, and I think the push button is tricky to use, and with no resistance in the throttle lever, it's very sensitive, and easy to jump the boat forward when you put it in gear because you give it throttle automatically on accident. Maybe they added resistance on the 2011s....

You should be able to get an Isotta knob for your boat. Not sure how they structured the options back then. I have the Isotta knob & not the steering wheel on my "Fakesetter".

I heard there was, and that's why they went away from it on the 2010s. I'm not sure exactly what it was. Supposedly they have it figured out now, so they brought it back on the 2011s.
