Low torque - Slow top end

Just had a re-built engine put in the boat. It sounds great and ran well for the first couple hours after I got it back. Now it is slow out of the hole and the top end was only only 37mph this morning. (when the boat was new it was 48) It is a Response LX with a Indimar Monsoon. When the boat gets to 37 there is still more throttle left. When I try to push the throttle down, it trys to go faster but can't. I am thinking fuel line issue (e.g. fuel filter) - thinking that there is just not enough gas getting to the engine. Any ideas? BTW - did you ever notice how these things happen on Sunday before Memorial Day. :-(

I would guess fuel fiter as well. And yea they never happen on the way to the dock after a great week or weekend on the water.

Mechanic just came out - Looks like the Fuel Pump is going bad. Could be worse...
