Ski Pylon Mount

My 92 Sunsetter ski pylon mount that is bolted in the bilge area is broke where it bolts around the pylon like a clamp. Does anyone know if these are still available from Malibu, or where I could find one? I think previous owners had a fly high and backed it under something the way it looks.

I have no idea off the top of my head, but have you called your local dealer yet? Or even Malibu? That is where I would start.

Post up a pic also. Might help us figure out what your best move would be if the factory replacement is not available.

I will try to get the pics today. The parts guy at my dealer was an idiot, so I went through an out of town dealer and they never got back to me. Malibu told me all i needed was the bracket measurement and I think he was talking pylon measurement not mount. I am trying to get my dealer to look again but they dont seem interested.

Here is a couple pics overlook the nasty bilge, it will be cleaned before first trip out this season. This boat was severely neglected, I am in the process of repairing/restoring.

I would take these photos along with the I.D. measurements to the dealer and they should be able to order you the part.

Also, you could call Malibu and ask for a customer Service rep explain the situation and get an email addy to send the picture to along wit hthe dimensions. Should be able to get you a part number then you can order it from any dealer you want...Like maybe Bakes.

I wouldn't count on a dealer to be able to get a 20 year old part, but worth a try.

Maybe a local aluminum welder, otherwise you may have to get creative. I do know old CCs or MCs use a u-bolt through a cross beam to hold their pylons in their older models. You may be able to cut away or grind a notch in that vertical support and put a heavy duty clamp around it.

Malibu has been glassing those things in for years now, I'd say no way you're going to find one at a dealer.

I'd pull the part and have it fabricated or repaired locally, I think its going to be the only way to go.
