Glue questions-

Couple questions about glue...

- I have some carpet starting to loosen up and pull away from the inside of the hull in the rear storage lockers...any recommended glues for sticking the carpet back into place? Gorilla glue?

- I will be replacing a piece of diamond plate that fell off my trailer. Once the surface has been properly cleaned and prepped, what glue to hold down the new diamond plate?

Thanks!

Bob

On the carpet, I had some of mine starting to pull away in my '94. I used Liquid Nails construction adhesive. I remembered my college days on a framing crew, and putting together door headers. You get that stuff on your jeans and it's there forever. So I figured it would hold the carpet too, and that was 2 years ago. It's lasted very well, even with the occasional submerged bow. Not sure on the diamond plate.

I also used Liquid Nails on the carpet of my old Mastercraft. It was what the dealer service department recommended and it worked great.

:plus1: We used to use the 3m77 to glue new pads to our jet skis, works great.

Another vote for the 3M Super 77 Spray Glue. It is unreal for carpet. I used to build sub cabinets all the time and it is hands down the best for gluing down carpet. Spray the carpet and the floor and let them get slightly tacky. Smooth the carpet out and let it dry and it is good to go.

As far as gluing the diamond plate to the trailer, I would use something made for metal to metal bonding. I used Lord Adhesives when I mounted a bumper on my last car. Most car companies are mounting most of their fenders and body panels with adhesives like this now. The strength of them is unreal....basically like cold welding. Rockon.gif

Thanks for the all the feedback. Looks like I'll try some 3M Super 77 spray glue. Is that something you can find at Home Depot? Auto Parts store?

I still need to order the replacement diamond plate from Extreme trailers. I'll ask for their input on glue also.
