Best Wake Rack Cleaners

Recommended Posts

I've done a search and really don't see anything on what people use to clean their chrome wakeboard racks. I have the Gen II Spinner Racks on an Illusion XS tower and want to know what others use to clean them (mostly bugs) on a regular basis.

Thanks.

I have found that used Bounce sheets work great on chrome, wet them and scrub, they seem to have a gritty texture that works at removing bugs and other grime. A little elbow grease while scrubbing and then wipe clean with rag to a nice shine. Thumbup.gif

Use Never Dull wadding by Eagle One. It comes in a little silver metal can. It is a wadding type material with cleaner impregnated into it. Works awesome. You can also use Flitz metal cleaner or Blue magic metal cleaner. Just make sure you have a clean soft towell to wipe off residue when done. My first choice would be the Never Dull and leave in boat to polish at beach, no mess with throw away wadding. Depending on the racks, you can also use a super fine 0000 steel wool to polish chrome and glass. Good Luck.....

Plus1.gif on the Never Dull, works great. Ive used old dryer sheets and that works too, but the Never Dull is so much easier, less scrubbing to get the same results.

I don't trailer, but in our dock I store our boat with screamin sacs on the racks and speakers and I just use wax to keep it clean and shining. Speaker sox are very nice also, but tend to hold water.

Speaker sox are very nice also, but the screamin sacs tend to shed water better at least compared to speaker sox I bought about three years ago. Not sure about now.

I stored the boat over the winter with speaker sox on and wasn't sure if it is poor chrome plating or the ability to release moisture but now that you mentioned this it explains it a little more.

Thanks all. I have speaker soxs as well but they don't cover the spinner part of the rack (and the rack face gets water spots from the boards of course) and that is what collects the bugs when towing.
