inmdar monsoon 340 excessive smoking

Recommended Posts

Indmar Monsoon 340 is smoking excessively. It seems to be more noticeable after the engine has run for a while. To date, the fuel filter, spark plugs and temp sensor has been replaced. The fuel screen on the fuel pump has been taken out and cleaned. Any other suggestions? The horrible black smoke makes an otherwise great looking boat unacceptable!

There is no issue with the way the boat runs...it is strong out of the hole and on top end...just a cloud of black smoke!!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

definatly running rich... id check that your fuel regulator is working properly, as well as your MAP sensor.

Have your fuel pressure checked. The fuel pressure regulator may need to be replaced. Saw that in a few boats in the past, with soot being a problem and poor fuel mileage.

I had a similar problem with my Monsoon a few years ago. The issue that I had was a clogged fuel line. This was causing the computer the increase the fuel pressure which ultimately was causing an excessive amount of fuel getting through. There is a a little screen on one side of the fuel pump that was clogged. There might even be a couple of threads about it.

The temp is around 160...

As far the fuel pressure regulator and the MAP Sensor...I have the Indmar part numbers but do they cross reference to any standard GM part, or are they truly specific to INDMAR?
