had to take the shaft out anyways, & need new packing, just curious on everyones opinion , if the $150 drippless system is worth it, & for the people that do have it , how long does it really last.

thanks

1 thing I didn't realize, and I returned it, is that it still needs a water source. I'm not sure exactly how it works but you need to run a hose from the engine to the dripless unit.

I'm sure its not a big deal, but then again neither is the minimal maintenance on the old school unit. I didn't see the $150 - $200 benefit

I put the OJ unit in last spring and I'm really happy with it. They've run it up to insane RPMS (6000+) with no lubrication on racing boats and it's done fine. The OJ has a double lip seal that seals directly to the shaft itself. The PSS unit has its own flange that creates the seal- that's the main difference.
