Is my prop suitable?

Guys,

I have 2001 Sunsetter LXI with fuel injected 5.7/350. I just installed a 13x12.5 Cutter 4 blade. My old prop (i think was 13x14 4 blade, stainless) ran at about 4600 at WOT and this one runs WOT at about 5150rpm (also stainless...cutter 1318LS-X1). Boat seemed to run great but I am surprised the RPM went so high.

My question is...is it ok?

I saw one poster said that the the 5.7 MPI engine was rated 4800 to 5200 WOT?

I looked on line to try to find peak HP for the engine and it seems like it would be around 5,000-5200 so that seems to make sense too. I couldnt find the exact engine but did find a car GM 350 on dyno.

MAX RPM should be between 4600 - 5200 according to Indmar pre 2002 manual for 5.7 MPI (Appendix B-1/Page 59).

Typical RPM jump is 200 RPM for each inch of pitch change, so jumping to 5150 from 4600 is a little much, but could be accounted for by other characteristics of the new prop.

You should be OK.
