Engine Fault Codes

Recommended Posts

So after going out to the boat this weekend when we turned the key we got a message "service required"

We went through the menus and found 10 fault codes.

Does anyone know what they mean? Also we didnt have this problem until malibu came out and updated things.

You have a problem with your fuel pump relay. Whistling.gif That's all I got man, sorry, I'm sure Malibu will make it right, good luck!

Hey thanks!

Yup, thats all we could decipher as well. We sent them off to our dealer and they are going to check them out as well. They think giving the engine a crank could potentially fix the problem. We are going back out this weekend so we will see.

Possible that your battery got run down low, low voltage can set off all sorts of weird alarms.

Well that would be great if its simple like that!

The battery was disconnected, and it was reading 11.7 volts.

This definately makes sense.

Thanks!

Did Malibu visit you for the customer appreciation service? There might be a software conflict with the upgrade they did. You should contact Malibu or your dealer to get this sorted out.

yeah, sorta related but my corvette had a low battery and it put it into limp mode and everything went wonky.

i'm taking a stab at this but i think tps may be the throttle position sensor.

Is it a dual battery boat? If the boat has been sitting and is a dual battery boat , first charge both batterys and make sure they are within .2 volts of each other, we have occassionally had low voltage batterys cause the ecm to trip codes due to voltage difference between batterys do to the drive by wire system, so start there first.

The first one/two are pedal position faults, which are often set just by unplugging the throttle. Completing 3 engine starts often clears it, and you may find that if you clear all the codes they don't come back. (Just by-products of the work performed) Either way your dealer will find the solution.

We have talked to them, and If indeed the 2009 software was installed they will be coming out to re install.

Nope, Just one batt, but it is low.

Sweet thanks. They told us over the phone that starting the engine may clear some of them up.

Thanks all! Hopefully we will be going out this weekend to get it running!

Just following up, boat started right up and ran great! All the codes went away with a few starts. Turns out the correct software was installed and there is a way to check.

Now if we can just get the perfect pass working correctly we would be in business!
