Popping the Fuse

Recommended Posts

I have a 2005 VLX.

When I start to fill the rear (driver's side) ballast tank, it pops the fuse out on my fuse panel. If I reset the fuse and try again, the same thing happens. Is this a fuse problem or is there something in the ballast pump that is shorting out the fuse???

I had this same thing happening. Had to replace the pump. Once I finally got to the pump I saw the pump was actually cracked.

Some pointers I learned:

Their are fill pumps and empty pumps.

My fuse was blowing trying to empty the tank, the problem was with the empty pump.

Empty pumps are a pain to get to

the pumps themselves are cheap, I got my from bakes

The pumps are super simple to replace, remove set screw, unscrew pump from housing.

I have a 2006, not sure if we have the same pumps.

If we do, I would say you could replace it yourself.
