Wake Skis

Ok, I did a little searching on the forums and haven't exactly found what I'm looking for. This thread on trick skis had most of what is out there and easy to find on a google search.

Hydroslide Hoppers

Body Glove Blades

HO Wake Skis

The above are what I have found so far, but a few issues ago in Waterski they had a 1-page article on a younger guy starting his own business making wake skis and promoting the sport. However, I can't seem to find that article. If my memory is correct his price point seemed between the "wake hoppers" and HO. I really don't want to drop $600+ on a set of these new if possible and the bindings on the cheaper ones are pretty bad. Plus I'm looking for something a little more along the lines what HO offers, just cheaper. Any one have any ideas or the name/website from the Waterski article I'd really appreciate it. I'm sure factory blemished HOs will be out there soon, but I don't mind supporting a new company with a developing sport. Especially since the current economy is straining small businesses.

there is another brand called stereo wakeskis. check them out on youtube.

edit: IMO you are far better off getting the HO or the stereo skis. The body glove ones are ok for a bit of fun now and then but will get a bit limited quickly, especially in the binding, where as the HO binding is one of the softest most comfortable boot you will ever put your foot in.

You hit the nail on the head. The bindings on the Body Glove and Hydroslide skis are pretty bad. I wanted something nice, but just a little less expensive than HO. Stereoskis seemed to be competitive to HO just a little more reasonable. Factory blemished HOs are an option too, I just haven't seen that many of them out there.

Great, thanks for the help.

The Stereo wakeskis are actually a bit better than the HO skis. The Body Glove/Hydroslide wakeskis are just toys. The Stereo skis have a 3 stage rocker, while the Ho's are a continuous rocker. The Stereos give you a bit more air and the build quality is excellent.

I have a pair of Stereo skis that I might part with. I used them a few times last year but not enough to justify keeping them. I'm just too into kneeboarding. PM me if you're interested.

$300 w/wiley bindings, which are old school but very comfortable and hold you in well. There are still a lot of slalom guys that prefer Wiley bindings.

Nice call. I might have to get a set for that price.

Interesting that these don't seem to have taken off, whereas snow skis have really seen a renaissance among the nonconformist set. Kids snowboarded cuz skiing was lame and now there are so many poseurs on snowboards that skiing is cool again.... but not so much on the water, eh?
