What Octane do you run? 5.7L Merc Carb.

I have just bought a 95 tantrum ... Been working on cleaning it up all weekend!

installed a CD PLAYER

painted rub rail and center counsol

removed graphics (ordered new ones)

hydro turfed the swim platform

Relocated Bimini Top

Buffed out the boat to get the oyxdation out and ready for teh new graphics.

Anyway what octane gas do you guys run or what does MALIBU suggest?

I'll post pics when i get the new graphics on!! Should really update the boat!

89 for me - manual recommendation.

I assumed 87 would work but if the manual say 89.... I would rather run 89!!

Always 87 in my 310hp carb, never any problems with knock (knock on wood). Even on the hottest days in pennsylvania, no predetonation. Might be an issue if you live in a hotter climate.

Try the 87 and see how it runs and then go from there.

I've run all of the octanes in my 5.7 and have never noticed a difference in starting or performance. Stick with the cheap stuff, the rest is a rip off.

I might start with the 87 and move up if i hear any knocking...

Anyone know how big the tank is on a 95 Tantrum???
