I was wondering, based on our 08 switch found here:

http://www.bakesonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=1331

do you guys run your boat on ON or Combine batteries? Why/Why not.

do you have the acr that goes with the kit?

the acr with charge both banks of batteries but seperates them so one battery is always charged

combine them and say play the stereo for a long time both drain

combine the batteries is just for starting or if one battery is dead

I'll keep that in mind. It's going to be several months yet until the bu can be dewinterized... Cry.gif

Edit... Looking at a photo, it looks like we may have something of the sorts...

What about an isolator? That is what I was told to install, to tie our starting battery and our deep cycle battery together. An isolator seem like a lot less items to install/worry about. No switching to one or both, no brainier on all the time and charging both batteries all the time. Good information or bad? I want to do what ever is the best to extend the batteries life and always have power on both. Edited by Monk

you can use an isolator but from what I have researched is isolator cause a voltage drop while charging so the batteries do not charge fully and the isolators heat up

the acr is automatic. it charges the first battery until 13.2 v or so and then switches to charge the second then disconnects the second when the source is gone ( boat off)

combining the batteries is just a fail safe to start the boat

blue sea acr seems to be top of the heap
