VLX Rudder

Recommended Posts

I was looking closely at my rudder on my '05 VLX the other day...it looks like it has a very slight bend to the right when looking at it from behind the boat. Is this normal?? I'm hoping it's designed like that to compensate for the prop rotation and not just damaged. Anyone out there know about this?

Should be slightly offset to the right of center on propshaft to compensate for engine torque. I don't think it should be bent or curved

It should be straight. You can look at the gap between the top of the rudder and the flange on the boat, it should be equal all the way around the shaft. If its not, the rudder is bent.
