Titan tower folded high point

Recommended Posts

So I've read the multitude of threads on tower heights and garage doors, seen various pictures of the towers folded, but still not convinced enough to order a titan tower for the boat knowing it will fit in the garage. I have a 2003 Sunsetter 21 XTI. Unfortunately, I back up a hill into the garage so this comes into the equation as well. The clearance at the windshield is 10", but what I don't have a good understanding of is where truly is the highest point of the wishbone in comparison to the windshield. From what I've seen it's going to be some distance behind the windshield.

So my question is where is the highest point, what distance behind the windshield is it? And then how much higher above the top of the windshield is it?

Any information would greatly be appriciated.

Howe, something to consider with the Titan Towers is you can now get a Titan with a hinge in the front hoop. This allows the front hoop to literally "hinge" over the windshield, and therefore not be any sort of issue on low clearance garages. Jason may be able to add a part designator, but specify when ordering that you'd like the hinged front hoop.

Unfortunately there's no way to provide you with the information that you're looking for. Because of the variance from boat to boat, and installation to installation, each tower will end up in a different spot on the boat, which will change how it folds against the windshield, and therefore how high it sticks up in the air. The best I can do is say that most people have absolutely no problem fitting one of our towers into a standard garage door opening with your boat. That may mean they need to fold the front wishbone forward instead of back, or lower the trailer tongue all of the way, but it does work.

Peter is correct, we do have a new option that we just announced this week that adds a hinge in each leg of the front wishbone so that the tower simply folds straight back over the windshield. The result is that the tower only adds 2.25" of height to the boat, so that may be a good option for you. The updated front wishbone is only available for the Series III though, and will be going into production in the near future.

Hadn't heard of the "hinge" becoming available on the Titan III. How do we get more information on this (pricing, pics, etc)? Do we need to work through our local dealer since it's a Titan III or can we work directly with Titan? When you say "near future", when will these become available?

We literally just announced this to the Malibu dealer network this week, so it will take some time for the information to propagate through to the dealer network. Of course since this is a Malibu product, you'll need to contact your local Malibu dealer, and not a Titan dealer.

No firm ETA on delivers, or any other info at this time, but it should be coming soon.

I have a Sunsetter with the titan 3 and need to fold the front wishbone forward to avoid the windshield. The tower is absolutely rock solid though and looks great.

footnlongline,

How far in front of the boat does the wishbone stick out?

Ill check today but I can assure you it is not past the trailer tongue.
