Florida Fly-in

Regrettably I wasn't at the Florida Fly-in but it looks like it was a great time! Here's the kicker: someone showed up with a helicopter! These are posted out on www.foilfreaks.com and big thanks to B. Schumacher-XTREME Foils (Malibu VLX owner) for giving the OK to post them here. The last one of TMC member Brad Scott boat is brochure ready IMO. Enjoy!

Big air! <a href="http://www.airsling.com/" target="_blank">http://www.airsling.com/</a>

Does it work?

Anyone know of the cost?

Never used one myself. But I'm told it is easier on the shoulders & elbows, and you can learn to use the preload to help with your launch. I guess it really helps with front flips & back rolls (where you really load the line up to launch it).

Looks like another great event. Seems like everytime we get a helicopter involved the pics come out far better than anything we have seen before.

Never seen the air sling before, but THIS looks really cool. I'd like to see a better demonstration of it and get a look at how it's built in person. With soft rear arms, torsional loading would become a problem at the front of the swingarm, especially if people were dumb and pulled multiple tubes with it like our neighbor does with his Sanger.

Yea, that tower is a trip. Haven't rode behind it yet either. Murphy is always dreamin up crazy new stuff.

The Power Tower does the same thing as the AirSling. Preloads on a hard cut, then as you leave the water, pulls slightly. Then gives a little bit on the landings. The result is more air on take-off & less of a jolt on the landings.

My biggest concern isn't with a tube behind it, but how much flex does the tower have when a big guy on a board or foil is pulling from the side? Their are a ton of towers out now days that can't handle that kind of flex. I've seen as much handle recoil from a bouncy tower as if we're using a slalom rope. And if the tower is bouncing so much, eventually it fatigues & cracks...... if the fiberglass doesn't do it first.

The guys at the Florida Flyin just released their footage of the helicopter runs. These type of runs are always cool.
