This engine pumps out 637 Nm of torque and is joined by Z06 emblems and trailer wheels in the Z06 package. It’s scheduled to be unveiled in November.

RUMOR CONFIRMED: GM AND MALIBU BUILDING '08 CORVETTE BOAT

(Merced, CA) - The rumors are true. Malibu Boats has been selected by General Motors to produce the new Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V. A water sports boat designed by the World's #1 selling tow boat manufacturer with the Corvette brand of Americana and the car's distinct style.

The Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V will be the 3rd generation Corvette boat from Malibu. GM tasked Malibu Boats with creating C4 and C5 versions a decade ago. Now, in the 21st century, Malibu is utilizing advanced technologies to make this new Corvette boat even more amazing than its predecessors.

Based on the 2008 C6 Corvette, this Malibu will be available in Coupe and Z06 editions. The Z06 package includes the 512 horse power, 7.0L, LS7. This engine pumps out 637 Nm of torque and is joined by Z06 emblems and trailer wheels in the Z06 package.

What V-drive is this going to be based on a VTX or a VLX?

VTX, but the freeboard is going to be a bit lower (think, "chopped"). It's going to feature a ton of innovative features from what I understand.

Yeah I'm sure it will look cool, but the old corvette motors were junk in a V-drive, completely wrong power curve.... now in a sporty or a response that was a different story!

Well, they weren't GM motors, they were done by Callaway. More hands in the pot IMO, the more chances for problems. The 2 motors that will be featured in this boat will be straight from GM as I understand it.

I wouldn't say they were junk. Far from the best choice for wakeboarding yes. I would have put my old LSV/LS1 up aganist any other towboat, it was flat out fast !

It's actually a totally new boat, it doesn't use any existing hull or deck mold.

I've got the LS -1 in my Sunscape. I do like it.....like to go a little faster. I would agree it's not teh best for wakeboarding, but it's good enough for me and my family.

I would almost guarantee that the Z 06 will be over 6 figures.

So give us some hints. More of a ski based hull, or wake, or combo? Open bow? I love what I get out of my diamond hull v-drive for both skiing and wake. I would be even more interested if this boat is the same. Lack of an open bow kept me from getting one of the older Corvette boats.
