How much weight is in each of the ballast tanks on the 08' LSV 23? Rear, mid and front. The front is optional and I wonder if it is really needed for surfing and or wakeboarding. I'm looking at a deal on an 08' LSV 23, but it doesn have the front ballast. I really want all the ballast I can get. Cant find any info on the Malibu website other than 1300lbs total.

From what I have read the rear tanks have increased from 200 to 250, mid is 500 and front is 350. Every Malibu I have owned likes weight up front. Even for surfing. But, the '08 LSV is a new design for this year. Even though it is the same at the 247 just smaller, the difference in length will change the way it handles weight. You would have to get someone with experience to give you some advise. I personally wouldn't spend that much money and not have the integrated bow ballast.

I knew the top deck looked like the 247 but I didn't know if the hull had the same one as the 04-07. I'll be curious how different the wakeboarding wake is behind the newer hull.

And on the topic, I definitely think you should get the bow ballast.

My son rode behind the new LSV at the dealer meeting and had this to say...

"Wake is more vert than expected. This didn’t feel like a traditional Malibu wake. But, said it was fun and could get used to it. Not a VLX wake!"
