If strut is bent does that necessarily mean shaft is bent?

My strut got bent to the left, does this mean the shaft is also bent or could I just replace the the strut?

I guess the the real question is does strut being bent mean the shaft is also? or is there some leeway with the shaft?

Thanks

It was when I bent my strut.

You should get with your dealer to get it checked out.

No, the strut can bend sideways without bending the shaft. (to a point).

Always check the shaft, but you may not need to replace it.

I had the same thing (strut bent left, rudder bent up and right, my pride completely destroyed) and the shaft was bent .005" I had a machine shop check it and they straightened it for 60 bucks total. His runout guage was about .001" after the fix. The bend was up between the hull and the coupler, not down between the strut and prop like I would have guessed.
