Engine warming tray

Hi all just wanted to post some pics after I installed the engine warming tray on my 06 VLX. This is the warming tray that is used in the 07's that only have 2 hatches. I really liked the idea of this for storing dry towels or more importantly wet towels and life jackets after a day on the water. I had my dealer order a tray for a 07 VLX and then just cut slots out for the pistons. Works great and you can't even tell that it is there when the engine hatch is closed. Clap.gif

Sure the total cost with shipping was $130. IMHO totally worth it, just installed it yesterday and already using it non stop.

I bought my 2004 XTi used and it came with the warming tray...I thought it was a standard accessory and not an option...I guess not. I noticed as well where the cut-outs around the hatch support shocks appeared to be a "non factory" cut out job....yes "butchered" up and wondered WTH ???? Now I guess I know why, the previous owner must have done it and didn't really know what he was doing. In either case it is an excellent option and well worth the money if you don't have one. Nice to have a warm towel when you get out of the water on a cooler day!

Thanks! I may just have to do that.

We installed one as well, great addition IMO. One thing though, it adds one more place to put stuff. We had stored one of the kid's life jackets in there & forgotten. We thought that it was lost, & I came across it the other day when I was cleaning the boat out.

We normally store wet stuff there like ropes, handles, gloves. If you have people getting in and out of the boat soaking wet, water will drain down to the tray. I would not put towels there, unless you want them wet. :)

Maybe drill a couple of holes in it to let that water drain out?

Can you get these for the Vride line? I was just thinking about this yesterday.

That looks like a must have now that I have seen someone adapt it to and older VLX. I will see if I can order one from my dealer on Monday.

My mate has an 05 XTi and he uses it for keeping the jackets warm and storing his ropes. I did wonder why it was standard for the XTi and not even an option for the VLX.

Well done Kronk734.

Any chance of someone setting up a group buy on these trays?

Just digging up an old thread.

These engine trays...... what years & models did they come on stock? Specifically, was there ever one made for the Vride or the early model VLX?

Or can someone get me the measurements from the one they have installed in their v-drive?

Thanks.

I think the warming tray was first seen on the XTI's (not sure of the first model year, 2004 maybe?). I know my old 2000 Sunsetter VLX did not have one.

Don't see how it would work on mine. I already have marks on the underside of the sun pad where it rests on the top of the flame arrestor. IE, no clearance whatsoever to put anything like this between the top of the engine and the sun pad.

They will work on any '05+ VLX, '04+ 23 and any 247 or VTX/20LSV.

Almost any 05... Mine was the the first 05 built and no trays fit over the motor or above the v-drive under the center cushion. :(
