2004 Illusion Tower Light -- Any Suggestions??

I understand the newer Illusion towers have a "night time" running light (white) -- ours dosen't... any suggestions? We have the fwd/rear lights on the tower, but the local marine unit is being annal about having a "unidirectional light at the highest point on the boat". :(

The standard transom light is a pain -- I was wondering if anybody used velcro to attach a hand held light? Again -- the boat will be lit well with the 4 fwd and 4 rear facing lights -- I just need to keep in the good books with the police who live on the lake -- thanks is advance! Olive

As much of a pain the stern lights are, at least they're telling you to get the appropriate light rather than just smiling and handing you a ticket. Boat equipment is a bit like airplane equipment - there's not a lot of wiggle room in the way of substitutions.

Marine supply places like Overtons, Boater's World, West Marine, Outdoor World, etc. have several options for that. Clamp on styles, some velcro, I believe, and so on. Not very expensive and most any of them could be made to clamp to the tower.

I copied SacRiverRat's light holder. I found a piece of schedule 40 PVC 3-4" in dia. and about 6" long. Painted it black and lined the inside with a thin layer of foam. Just place the PVC tube over the tower tow spool and then place one of those cheap hand held transom lights from walmart in the top of the tube. It works great and you never have to worry about someone accidently grabbing the long transom light pole and ripping it off.
