  7. I've never been in a M5 boat so no comparison from me there. I trade boats every year so I look at it a little differently than you might. I'm more concerned with resale. I don't want an option or not have an option that will contribute to a buyer choosing a better optioned boat. I want the first guy to look at it to buy it. A similar option is or was available on some of the bigger boats. I haven't looked at those options lately. I recall a discussion on a patent infringement on some of those options. Another discussion was about the Malibu extended transom seats blocking most of the swim platform causing some people to not favor that option. I have no experience with them though.
  8. I was hoping some Axis owners out there can help me. Does your depth finder display a depth in your driveway? Even if it's wrong or is there nothing on the screen? I bought this boat two years ago and the depth finder never worked. I brought it in for warranty over the winter. They did not want to touch it until they could water test it. Come spring they said they replaced all the parts and to come pick it up. My old Malibu would show 0.0 in the driveway and I thought it was weird the screen is just blank on the Axis. I picked it up (4 hour drive) brought it home and tested it out in my driveway. The screen is still blank. I'm going to water test it tomorrow. I have a feeling it's still not going to work. The previous owner had to have the wiring harness replaced twice. The last dealership forgot to plug a bunch of stuff in. The ground for the surfgate and a few other things were unplugged and the tech fixed it right then and there.. I think the depth finder isn't plugged into the dash. I checked the connection in the bilge area and when I unplug it the ticking of the depth finder stops so I know it has power. Can anyone help me as to where to connect it to the dash. I had the dash apart last season and I could not find a loose plug anywhere. I'm trying to avoid another 4 hour round trip. Thanks in advance.
  9. Yeah I saw a noticeable difference when I tested the 20' boats vs my 22' when I bought mine and I feel the difference in the 23's... I really don't think my family and I need anything bigger than that nor would the extra coin really get us any extra joy hence what I'm comparing. Any thoughts on the MD5 vs MD6 motors @Ronnie? When they came out I was a bit skeptical of the MD5s having enough power and everyone seemed to suggest it was going to be great, now with a few years on the water I see more threads saying MD6 is a must just curious w/ all your experience what your thoughts are. In my book NO ONE will ever complain about having more power than they need so it's really just is the cost worth it or not... My 23LSV test w/ the MD5 and with 4 adults on boat it planed up fine, but I felt it was spinning higher than my Axis. Opened up it topped out about 36/37 vs 40/41 so to me it felt like they needed a higher torque prop to accomplish what my old boat already does which is then going to hurt top end and gas mileage (relatively as I know the MD is more efficient than my old 6.2). I'll get to see the MD6 in action next week myself but with no real local BU dealer I don't have an immediate side-by-side comp. One last question does Malibu have an option like supra dose for flip up back seats, my wife is in love with these:

    Battery configuration - 2023 23 LSV

Appreciate the replies. Goal is to add an additional battery to my house battery in parallel (to your point switch position doesn’t matter) so that I have more amp hours when running my stereo when parked. Indeed these are both AGM batteries and I’ve bought a third. Traditionally, leaving just one of these to play my stereo when parked does not give me adequate playing time.
  11. 1 Dedicated under seat storage, usually the rear corner for us. In my LSV used to keep them in the rear center seat bin.
  12. Definitely should spin. May need to sand down the thickness of the insert or add washer to bolt so when it torques down it does not pinch insert tight. Finding the right sized and thickness of washer will be harder than thinning the insert. Put a piece of 80ish grit sand paper on a flat surface and hold the insert by hand to push flat and sand off material.
  13. How would the 3315 compare to the 3313 - it has a little more pitch and a little more cup. I'm in Utah - lots of Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge; cruising and surfing. Looking to go to an 18" prop on my 2022 25 LSV with LT4.

    Battery configuration - 2023 23 LSV

"starting" vs "house" in a particular position is a misnomer in this case -- looks like 2 identical batteries, either of which can be used to start the engine or used as 'house' battery to run accessories at rest while leaving other untouched. position 1 vs 2 is arbitrary, not like position 1 must be 'starter' even if you had different batteries. i'm unclear on your objective -- will you have both current batteries wired in parallel on position 1, and then your 'stereo battery' on position 2? if so, why is replacing one of your existing 2 batteries with a deep cycle insufficient? still leaves your starting battery alone which should be adequate to start the boat.

We need help with the weight and speed for sure . The tanks we have built in are front middle and rear auto fills . I read the rear are 250 lbs each . We are not sure the gauges are giving us the correct reading because it starts to release water at 3/4 full . My husband is concerned about the warning on the back locker lid , saying not to put any extra ballast bags in the back lockers, but it looks like that’s what people do anyway? We have a manual wedge we lowered / and a nauticurl we can’t figure out . We took the boat out for a test this morning with the tanks full the wake seemed to be bigger at 10 mph . We only went 8 yesterday and got no wake at all .

Sorry to hear it. Do you need help with surf setup or still fixing things? Post your settings and we'll help guide speeds, weight etc suggestions

    Battery configuration - 2023 23 LSV

Unfortunately, the only way to tell for certain which battery is connected to position 1 is to visually verify or disconnect one battery while the switch is in position 1. If you lose power with the battery disconnected, then that is your starting battery. If you do not lose power, the battery remaining connected is your starting battery.

Sorry about that. I guess we know why it broke, then. Did you remove it and make a drawing?
  19. Can anyone tell me which of these 2 batteries is the starting battery, which the owners guide states is position 1 on my switch? I am adding a third battery for a house stereo bank (position 2 on the switch) and was hoping not to pull the terminals to figure out which is starting and which is house. The picture is me standing facing the bow. Thanks in advance!

Yupp i did a hotspot and tried both the instructions from the other thread and the medallion App Store, both have the downloads fail immediately. If i got to downloads it says queued and the url workaround tells me on the Amazon App Store it’s not compatible wouldbe been easier to put CarPlay, using a fire tablet is an insane design decision

Update we spent upwards of $15K rebuilding the boat . We got screwed . The plate and a whole new engine . Now. If only we could get the wake going for surfing we could have some fun .
  22. We bought and rebuilt a 2005 Malibu VLX. We have yet to make a wale large enough for surfing and the lockers have a warning not to add extra weight. It seems everyone has extra weight . Our standard tanks don’t seem to make much wave at all . We also got a nautical that seems to do nothing .
  23. Sorry it is the mercruiser with the Rochester quadrajet carb! I’m gonna start with checking the fuel water separator, check the tank vent and pickup, do the normal tune up (plugs, wires, ect) and see what happens! Will update and see if anything changes after. Thanks!
  24. Love the look of that! 👍
  25. That color. Like seeing a color you've never seen before. Beautiful. Congratulations !
  26. $23 a gallon T6. Is what I used until they dropped the S rating. Likely still fine. I use Delo SDE now, about same price and still has a S rating.

I’m pretty positive that end is glass fiber reinforced plastic.
