  • Manual Boat Wedge - BRACKET

    • Posted in Pre-Owned Boats

After much fab and testing, I am pleased to introduce a part you can not buy new, which is this robust. Should fit boats from 1998 to 2009, with transom bolt footprint of 8" x 10", and hole pattern of 5.25" x 7". Boat in photos is 2006 V-Ride 21.

I have read of some who have retrofit, as well as other stories. But by and large, the power wedge has too many issues to rely upon.

The bracket is made of 3/8" stainless steel, at almost 12lbs, laser cut, chamfered edges at welds, keystone design, welded in sequence to eliminate deflection, full back welds, polished fully, ground smooth at back and side welds. We also include a 1/16" delrin buffer sheet, cut to fit 1/8" inside for "no show", which protects boat gelcoat from metal contact, and a step by step photo sheet for install.

You will need to choose your caulking of choice. We recommend 3M 5200 slow cure. We recommend a vigorous rub down of arms with burgundy scotch brite, and paste wax finish if looking tired, while off boat. We recommend new stainless lock nuts and washers. Rub existing washers across scotch brite to new them up. You may need washer between bracket and arms, for any play side to side. It should not wiggle, and start out as firm feel when actuating.

If a raw version is desired, we can discuss the state of finishing. We can powder coat as well, if you supply the Cardinal or Prismatic color, for same price.

    * Testing included the stock extruded aluminum bracket, and the welded model, herein. It outperformed the stock bracket in independent lab testing. It was placed in hold down as if installed on transom, force was applied from inside wings and pushed outward. We have additional pics and testing graphics, upon request. The only situation that would fail the assembly, is striking of other objects. They are both still available for purchase on several sites.

No disappointments with this product. We will perform 5 unit runs, as ordered. Lead time is 30 days, plus shipping cost. If market price keeps swinging, there may be a slight increase, but due to its compact size, it should be a non issue.

Impressive!  Now if you could only start making manual Wedges.

Yes! Unfortunately it appears the supply of manual wedges has dried up as no one seems to have them available. If he could make a bracket to accommodate the floating wedge those do seem to still be available.

That is the floating Wedge.  I have no idea if/how that works with any bracket.  But a SINGLE Wedge arm alone is $244 USD!  Almost make me want to disassemble mine and start cranking them out.
