For those who asked, here is my wife on May 18th, skiing the course, 15' off at 31.5mph behind a Response TXI.

She strong feels she was sold a false bill of goods (by the Malibu dealer) and is very disappointed.

A couple of people mentioned to me that you can slalom at 30, 32 and 34mph on a VTX and that I should just go and look at the YouTube videos. So I did.

You can see from the screen shots below that the skier is jumping the wake at those speeds because the wake lip acts as a ramp. If he was to try to cut and lean really hard and pull right through the second wake (as my wife does in tournament skiing) he would most likely trip. This is definitely a really, really bad slalom boat.

PS Look how much he has to bend his knees to absorb the wake and he still gets airborne.

@Mark5522Maybe I missed it, but do you plan to use the boat for any other purposes, i.e. wakeboarding or surfing?  I would hate to see you re-prop the boat and then come back next week saying that you cant get your boat on plane when fully loaded for surfing...

He just spent 6 figures on a boat with a huge (understandable) complaint and we’re making a big deal about a few hundred to assuage his frustration?    People can surf all sorts of different size waves.  It’s much harder to ski all sorts of different wakes.

He didn’t buy Vtx to be competitive with bigger options. He clearly prioritizes the ski wake.  It’s a prop for crying out loud.

I would like to use it for some wake surfing as well so I probably won't re-prop it but my wife is quite disappointed and feels she was sold a false bill of goods.

Changing a prop, literally takes five minutes.  At least take a picture of the you have on there for further discussion. I would hazard a guess that it is the same prop being put on boats much bigger.  Even a Vtx set up for surfing does not need to move 10,000 pounds like other boats do.  Take a picture of the hub for now and post What’s on it. Trust me.
