You cannot go wrong with either boat.  The 247 is going to be amazing for the days when you have more people.

Proper voltage is needed for many of the engine electrical systems to function properly, including the Universal Exhaust Gas-Oxygen sensors.  The condition of the batteries, charging system, and the cable connections on the battery terminals, battery switch, alternator, power distribution post, and engine block ground can all affect system voltage. 

16 pax is a lot in any boat but even with 10 you'll appreciate the extra room of the 247. They call that the lake limo for a reason. The VW TDI is a solid tow platform but that wheelbase is a bit short for the 247.

Could be the black box going to poo... Different outcome than I had but just had to replace mine in the same boat.... Mine would cut in and out mostly some weird volume jumps too then eventually nothing
