So yes, it's safe to do. I've thought about removing mine many times, but it's great for storing boards, hanging jackets when beached, etc. With our limited space I find I'd be seriously missing it. So I say to it, do some research on hole drilling & proper torque (not too tight), and have good backing plates. Mine has a couple spider cracks near the mounts that have not changed since I bought it 11 years ago.
What tower is that I bought a 93 echelon recently and my tower mounts are in the same spot but I can't find a tower that matches the mount location

My experience is more weight in the bow helps tracking in most boats but if it lifts the aft/transom too much the wake gets adversely impacted especially at the -22 "bump". So there is a tradeoff. Usually the best bet is get the boat as balanced forward and aft as you can get it.

Nevada and Arizona. Our seasons are in full swing already and they were some of the first to lock up.
Clearly Malibu had plans already. Inquiries into Malibu about taking over the local territory and the business were met with "Thanks, we're good."
