I went ahead with this one.  It's a beautiful boat and I'm pretty happy with the wakes.  Here's a pic of a 50 degree test ride in the rain!

One problem - I had check engine notifications and error codes go off at the end of the day.  They are:

      SPN 1326 FMI 11 - Cyl 4 misfire detected

SPN 1326 FMI 31 - Cyl 4 CAT damaging misfire

I was able to transfer my warranty and have an awesome dealer in MN who I know can take care of it, but it's 2.5 hrs away.  Could this be as simple as a plug, plug wire, or ignition coil?  Anyone else had to address these codes?  The motor is an M5.

I noticed when it went off when I made the wedge more aggressive and it really put a load on the boat.  I did a bunch of cruising around with no issues.  The codes came up at the end of the day when I was fiddling with the surf settings.

I almost wonder if they didn't reattach something right at the warranty inspection.  I ran it a bunch before I took it in for that without issue.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.  Thanks!

@MidwestVTX I'm in a similar situation. Does your 21LX have the diamond hull? Considering either the 21LX or a 21VLX and I would like some feedback on the ski wake between these boats.

@BlindSquirrel that's what I was looking for, thank you!

Is yours actually bad?  I would just clean it (and the rest of the throttle body) if you are having idle problems.

    • I've spent some time searching the forums and have followed really cool projects from really smart people but I haven't seen this discussion.

I have a 2007 Malibu LSV 247 with a Medallion MMDC v.3.4 (7021-00009-01 01/24/07 REV C). I'd like to replace the depth transducer with a unit from Humminbird, Lowrance or Garmin (chartplotter) all which can output NMEA 2K. I'd like to take the depth, air and water temp from the NMEA network and display the data on the gauges and screens driven by the Medallion. The OEM depth transducer appears to be a version of the Lowrance LSM-3. The NMEA format seems well documented, if someone understood or has documentation of the signalling output from the OEM depth unit to the Medallion it seems like a pretty simple conversion for a small Arduino.

      Thoughts or help appreciated.

      Thanks

Seems like it would have been some easy money to make on their end.

If they are like any dealer I've dealt with, they have zero need to go out looking for more work. Every dealer I've ever dealt with has had a pipeline of boats to be serviced, and have long wait times to get a boat in for work.

Wait til you need to get into your local dealer for a problem during the season and they tell you that they can't service boats that they didn't sell. For obvious reasons, I wanted to service my boat at a dealer 2 hours in the direction of the lake, versus by the dealer I bought it from that was 2+ hours the wrong way. I was told that it was a Malibu policy to protect the inherent service revenue that a dealer can count on from selling one. It was a while ago, but I had to jump thru hoops to get it done.

      Enjoy the new boat!
