Update -- its been 1.5 yrs and Rust Bullet lipstick is wearing thin...so i went to a local trailer place and asked about replacing the beams indicated by red arrow (they called it the "axle").
they are happy to do the welding / labor for a few hundred bucks and called Malibu/Axis to buy the replacement axle's...but they were quoted $5400!!! (2400 per axle plus 600 for shipping) i can buy an Aluminum trailer new for $6k, so obviously i said no.
Rest of trailer is in great shape, and i only use for winter storage and occasional trips to dealer, so was hoping to just replace the important structural pieces and be done for a while. its simply 3" square steel stock with a bend in the middle. obviously i'd want galvanized.
Anyone know where i could get such a piece made? torsion bars are probably fine, but whatever that end-cap / adapter to the torsion bar would also need replacement.
the trailer place had a few places they were going to call, thought i'd ask TMC for suggestions as well. thx.

Also, maybe try draining the brake fluid and then going on a test drive to see how hot the hubs are getting.

At this site there can still be plenty of water while on the trailer on the concrete but prop gets once a few metres out

If your hubs are really getting to 350° I can see how they might crack when you dunk them in cold water.
Monel staples are the tool of choice for bunk carpet. Any old indoor/outdoor carpet will do.
