    • What year and model is your boat? What engine?

      I have a 2014 wakesetter 21vlx w/monsoon 350SS engine with 130 hours on it.

I went to the local marine shop to buy supplies for an oil change.  They recommended the sierra 25w-40 vs the 15w-40, that Malibu recommends, due to the hot climate here in Arizona.

I read somewhere that the 25w-40 is also better to improve wear protection and increase catalyst life in newer inboards using catalytic converters..

      Any insite on this?

Any downside for running the 25w-40?

    • Agree with Steve, but I've never heard of listing 1 way causing cavitation before.

    • We were on the lake today, put the boat in gear, then gave throttle to pull up a surfer and the boat completely died. Started it and it happened again 2 pulls later. Then wouldn’t start, checked fuses and the ignition fuse popped. Replaced it and it happened again. Changed the 10amp fuse for a 15 and the same thing happened over and over. Boat is no longer under warranty, so hoping to find some help here.
